CONSISTENCY IN GOD

INTRODUCTION

James 1:6-8(KJV)

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Consistency is a very big issue in every are of human life. It is a determining factor in every human endeavour. its importance cannot be over emphasized. Finding the right path is not much of a problem but keeping to that path or standard is where the difficulty comes in. That is where Consistency becomes necessity. What then is consistency?

Consistency is the quality of always behaving in the same way; having the same opinions and standards; being unchanging over time. It is also the ability to maintain a particular standard with minimal variation. Simply put, it means sticking to a particular path or holding on to a particulat thought or view without ever changing. Some qualities that relate to consistency include dependability, reliability, stability, steadiness, predictability, etc.

WHY THE NEED FOR CONSISTENCY

  • God who created us and has through the sacrifice of Christ reincarnated us in the Spirit is consistent in every aspect of the word and since we bear his nature and likeness, it is expected of us to be consistent. We bear his nature and thus must reflect the same.Malachi 3:6
  • It is the mark of every serious Christian. 1Corinthians 10:21 Revelations 3:15-16
  • Consistency epitomizes loyalty. A loyal person will automatically be consistent.

LOVING CHRIST THE LORD

John 21:14-17  This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.  So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him,Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Christianity depends largely on love than obedience. People can obey without loving but those who love will readily and easily obey.As such, it is expedient unto every believer to decide to love Christ Jesus; if really indeed with have the desire to work for him and with him. Loving the Lord makes us obey Him in everything He commands.

Matthew 22:37-38 tells us what the greatest command is: loving the Lord God with all our hearts, minds and souls. it is the greatest thing God expects from every child of His.Obedience will follow naturally. Obedience without love is a formality. Christ 's eternal commitment to our salvation and redemption was reflected through His undying love for humanity ,though lost.
Our level of commitment to God and the things of God is dependent on the magnitude of our love. Galatians 2:20.

The love of God/Christ must therefore compel us to devote ourselves and lives to Him. it will blind us to the things around and block our ears to the sayings inundate our our thoughts everyday. Love for God must fire up our zeal. 2 Corinthians 5:14, Romans 5:5.
